Jubilation erupted in Eastleigh on Saturday evening, just hours after Dela Ward MCA Yussuf Hussein, who disappeared in September 2024, was reunited with his family in Nairobi.
The Wajir County Assembly Minority Leader’s safe return sparked widespread relief and festivities among residents, ending months of uncertainty following his reported abduction.
Eldas MP Adan Keynan, a relative of Hussein, confirmed the news, stating that the MCA is in good health and high spirits.
Speaking to a gathered crowd outside Hussein’s Eastleigh home, Keynan attributed the reunion to divine intervention, saying, “Thank God Yussuf is alive and at home.
His reappearance is by the grace of Allah.” The MP added that the family plans to release a detailed statement soon regarding Hussein’s disappearance and dramatic return.
Hussein, also known as “Tolfiyow,” was last seen on September 13, 2024, when he was allegedly abducted by five armed men near Pangani Heights in Nairobi while heading home from South C.
His disappearance prompted outrage and calls for action from North-Eastern leaders, with Keynan and others pressing security agencies for answers.
Reports indicate that Hussein was brought back to his Eastleigh residence by unidentified individuals on Saturday, March 8, though the circumstances of his release remain unclear.
Wajir County Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, Chairperson of the Council of Governors, expressed his joy at the news, stating, “The people of Wajir have endured a painful period of anxiety and prayers. Alhamdulillah, our MCA is home.”
Videos circulating online showed residents and local leaders celebrating outside Hussein’s home, with some Wajir MCAs joining the emotional reunion.
The MCA’s return comes after months of speculation and conflicting reports, including claims of his death and sightings in custody.
