President William Ruto says that Kenya is getting good results from the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda. This is a plan the government has been using since 2022 to help the country’s economy.
He explained that Kenya’s economy is doing better now. For example, inflation, which is how fast prices go up, has gone down from 9.6% in 2022 to 3.5% now.
There is also more production of crops like maize, tea, and sugarcane, and prices for coffee and milk are better.
The President said this when he met with elders and leaders from the Maa community at State House in Nairobi on Friday.
Some leaders present included Governors Joseph ole Lenku (Kajiado), Patrick ole Ntutu (Narok), Jonathan Lelelit (Samburu), and 25 MPs.
He mentioned that the policies his government has put in place have helped the economy improve.
“I can proudly say the people of Kenya, through the decisions we have made together, are enjoying the benefits because the economy is now stable,” he said.
President Ruto encouraged the elders to make sure that all parents send their children to school, regardless of whether they are boys or girls.
“Education is very important, and the Maa community should not fall behind. You should send all children to school, both boys and girls, without any discrimination,” he stated.
He also asked leaders to stop divisive politics and promote unity for peace and harmony.
“As Kenyans, we should come together and avoid politics based on tribalism if we want to solve the problems our people face together,” said President Ruto.
Governor Lenku promised the President that the Maa community would support the government’s plans.
Senator Ledama ole Kina also said that the Maa community would stand behind President Ruto to make the country better. “I came here today to assure President Ruto of my full support in carrying out his plans for this country,” he said.
