Goons raid Angata Barrikoi GSU camp, steal everything

A group of troublemakers broke into the General Service Unit (GSU) camp at Angata Barrikoi, Narok, on Friday. This happened just days after Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja told the officers to leave the camp.

According to a police report, the troublemakers came from Gwetembe in Kuria East, Ntimaru Subcounty, Migori County.

They damaged buildings and took away things like iron sheets, water tanks, wood, and other valuable items that were left behind.

The incident took place just hours after the GSU officers had left the camp at night.

After the raid, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Angata Barrikoi and his team went to see what happened.

On April 29, 2025, Inspector General Kanja visited Angata Barrikoi after violent clashes that resulted in the deaths of five civilians and injuries to several officers.

Kanja said that better teamwork and communication with the community are needed to prevent such events in the future.

He ordered all personnel to leave the camp and said that a new team of DCI and GSU officers should be sent to help keep the area safe.

“DCI, you must bring back the DCIO here and send a new one who will work with the people,” he said.
