Chelsea Push for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens with €50m to Dortmund

Chelsea Football Club has intensified negotiations with Borussia Dortmund to secure the signature of 20-year-old English winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, submitting a new €50 million (£42 million) proposal, according to sources close to the deal.

The offer comes after Dortmund rejected Chelsea’s initial €35 million (£29.5 million) bid, with the Bundesliga club holding firm on a valuation of €50-60 million for the England Under-21 international.

With the transfer deadline looming for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, both clubs are engaged in urgent discussions to finalise terms.

Chelsea, keen to bolster their attacking options under manager Enzo Maresca, is reportedly working to improve conditions in the proposal, including potential add-ons and payment structures, to meet Dortmund’s demands.

A verbal agreement has already been reached with Gittens, who is enthusiastic about joining the Blues and has agreed to a seven-year contract.

Gittens, who scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 48 appearances for Dortmund this season, is seen as a dynamic addition to Chelsea’s squad, particularly after the club opted not to pursue a permanent deal for loanee Jadon Sancho.

His high-speed dribbling and ability to play on the left flank align with Maresca’s tactical preference for wingers positioned high and wide.

Dortmund, however, views Gittens’ potential sale as a key part of their summer rebuild under coach Niko Kovac, whose system has not fully utilised the winger’s skill set.

If Chelsea fails to seal the deal before tonight’s deadline, sources indicate they are prepared to continue negotiations post-deadline, though the focus remains on completing the transfer in time for Gittens to feature in the Club World Cup, starting June 16.

The West London club’s pursuit of the former Manchester City academy player underscores their ambition to invest in young, high-potential talent.
