Administration police have been shot in Kwale after two gunmen shot then near a church in Ukunda. The police officers who were deployed to the church due to constant threats by unknown people.


Two AP officers have died after gunmen touring on a motorbike shot them as they were manning ACK Church in Ukunda Diani, Kwale county. The assailants escaped after stealing one rifle from the officers.


County commissioner Kutswa Olaka said the attack occurred at 10 am on Sunday and Police officers are pursuing the attackers. People have been urged to give out information for the gunmen.


According to eye witnesses, the two defendants armed with a fire arm made their way into the church compound and attacked the undoubting officers.


"They sprayed them with too many bullets. The officers fell down unconscious. They died terribly," said Evans Mikubo. More officers have been deployed in the area securing the Churches and Mosques where attacks maybe were foreseen and rampant.


People have been told to exercise the Nyumba Kumi initiative and report any suspicious people to the nearest police posts. Kwale have been in the long run targeted by gunmen and Alshabaab sympathizers.
