Ruth Akinyi Ogola, 60,  from Nyamaroka village in Rongo, Migori County, commits suicide over a church debt totalling to Ksh.20,000.

Area Assistant Chief Eddy Onyango said the body of the deceased was on Monday lunchtime found dangling from a string outside her kitchen.

The assistant Cheif said the deceased, who was a church treasurer, used Ksh.20,000 of money raised by the church but was not able to refund it.

The area administrator added that the deceased’s son on Sunday managed to sell a cow to advance Ksh.15,000  as a payback to the part of the money.

He, however, said the Police have launched more investigation to learn why the woman still opted to take her own life even after her son had managed to raise part of the said amount.

The Assistant Chief additional requested families to use alternative ways of managing issues rather than taking their lives with manageable conflicts.
