Babu Owino, a member of parliament for Embakasi East, has said that the majority of the leaders that the people of Kenya elected to government are incompetent.
The lawmaker said that playing the tribe card was pointless for any politician in Kenya, regardless of their position.
The outspoken and divisive member of parliament claimed that it was useless as well.
His comments are made in the context of politicians banding together based on their tribal ties to push for certain policies in their own areas.
Candidates for public office in Kenya traditionally run their campaigns by travelling throughout the country to speak with members of the tribes that make up their respective constituencies.
In contrast, voting was not done along tribal lines as it had been in the past during the campaigns that took place in 2022 before the general elections in August.
Instead, the campaigns were mostly focused on the economic development that had taken place in the nation.
When he was Deputy President, William Ruto, who is now President, told Kenyans to vote out politicians who used tribal politics to get ahead.
