The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Kenya's government launched the procedure to replace former government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna.


The news was made through a notice to the public published in local publications on Tuesday, February 7.


The spokesman would get a monthly remuneration of Ksh970,000 from PSC, which includes a base pay of Ksh292,000 to Ksh576,000.


Additionally, the job title comes with perks worth more than Ksh400,000, including a dwelling allowance, an entertainment allowance, an excess allowance, a domestic workers' allowance, a leave allowance, yearly leave, and medical coverage.


Requirements for application

Candidates for the role must be Kenyan nationals and have a minimum of 15 years of experience working in the media or in communications.


A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a media-related field is also required.


The PSC went on to say that the candidate "must show an in-depth grasp of the national development goals, strategies, and objectives, particularly the government's transformation program."

Duties of candidate

The spokesperson will use the media to tell the public about projects, programs, and policies of the government.


How to apply

People who meet the requirements were asked to apply online at the agency's website, www.publicservice.go.ke.


The deadline for applications is February 27, 2023, or earlier.


The preferred candidate will take over for Oguna, who took over for Eric Kiraithe on May 7, 2019, and was one of outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta's top senior officials.
