Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) members in Nairobi went on strike and set up peaceful protests at City Hall. The doctors demonstrated in front of Governor Johnson Sakaja's office for unpaid NHIF payments.

Dr. Malindi Chao, who is the Nairobi Branch Secretary of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU), said that the group has sent an appeal to the Nairobi County Assembly.

"We would want to submit this appeal to the clerk's office today so that they can help us fight this issue and bring it before the county assembly on the NHIF."

"It seems like someone is dozing at work," she observed.

The doctors said yesterday that they will stage a protest outside Governor Johnson Sakaja's office to pressure the county government to provide them full access to the NHIF insurance scheme.

Dr. Chao encouraged Nairobi residents to seek medical assistance at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Chao said in a message to newsrooms that "there will be no doctors available to offer treatment to them at any county health facilities."

This happened just a few days after Kiambu County's health services stopped working because the county government switched from NHIF to MUA Insurance Limited as its health insurance provider.

The KMPDU Central Branch manager, James Maina Githinji, said that physicians had not complained about the NHIF coverage prior to the move.

"They're bringing us stuff from the private sector, and we have no clue where it's coming from."

"They're bringing us stuff from the private sector, and we have no clue where it's coming from."

"We weren't supposed to be silent about our concerns regarding NHIF. Working with NHIF made us feel at ease.

"As a consequence, every time we see anything new, we ask, "Who consulted who?" Guthinji asked a question.

KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atella promised more demonstrations if the county did not pay staff on schedule.

"We insist on fast payment for every employee in our county." "You will be running the hospitals without employees if you do not pay them by the fifth of each month," Atella said.
