The Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu has suspended the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) deal to limit the outpatient visits to only four per year. The CS argued that he was not consulted and the members of the public also cried saying the NHIF official are robbing Kenyans.
“This is until further consultations are held between the NHIF board and other stakeholders,” Dr. Mailu said in a statement.
“Meanwhile patients should continue with the services as it has been the case before. A full statement will be issued soon,” he said.
The decision to bar the directive comes a day after the NHIF chief executive Geoffrey Mwangi announced the new outpatient package that was going to limit lower contributors to only four outpatient visits per year.
The move by the NHIF has been suspended until further notice where members will be consulted about the move. People have argued that they are paying every month for medical services why are they limiting to quarterly services?
