New NHIF boss Elijah Wachira accused of colluding with big hospitals for kickbacks

Activists released from court over NHIF scandals

People protest telling President William Ruto to fire the new NHIF boss, Mr. Elijah Wachira. The new boss has delayed the fight with cartels at the national hospital insurance agency.

Since his appointment with the CIC, things have not been the same for months. People also voiced their concerns on social media, protesting hospitals treating people with NHIF as trash.

People on NHIF often experience delayed or non-existent services. Hardworking Kenyans diligently contribute funds to NHIF, trusting that these contributions will improve healthcare services.

Activists went to the streets, protesting the bad governance under the new boss. The NHIF has more corruption cases and fraudulent activities than in the past.

The new boss is also accused of colluding with top hospitals, police and other agencies to obtain kickbacks, NHIF direct withdrawals among other fraudulent activities in NHIF.

According to activists, it is disheartening that certain individuals are misappropriating NHIF funds for personal gain. It’s high time for EACC to move with speed to put an end to this corruption and apprehend Elihjah Wachira.

“We remain steadfast in our efforts to remove Wachira from his position at NHIF. It’s disgraceful that both the government and police officers are intimidating activists peacefully protesting against the incompetent and corrupt leadership at the NHIF office.”

Activists out of court

“The misappropriation of NHIF funds under Wachira’s leadership is utterly unacceptable. We must take immediate and resolute action to uphold justice and transparency. Join us in demanding accountability and transparency,” the activists added.

“With worsening living conditions exacerbating the situation, there’s a pressing demand for collective action to overhaul NHIF services, drawing inspiration from Elijah Wachira’s unwavering determination.
