The Open University of Kenya (OUK) has recently launched 18 new academic and professional courses, aligning its curriculum with emerging industry needs and technological advancements.
This expansion aims to empower students by providing them with skills relevant to the current job market and future technological trends.
Academic Programs
The university has introduced 10 new academic programs, distributed across four faculties: School of Agriculture, School of Business and Economics, School of Education, and School of Science and Technology.
These programs are designed to increase student enrollment and strengthen OUK’s position as a leader in digital education in Kenya.
The courses include Bachelor of Agricultural Technology and Food Systems, Bachelor of Economics and Data Science, Master of Business Administration, and Master in Learning Sign and Technology.
Other courses include Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computing, Master of Data Science, Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, Master of Science in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration.
The university will also introduce eight professional development courses, including Mental Health Awareness, Gender and Diversity, Emotional Intelligence, Corporate Governance, Business Modelling for Entrepreneurs, Accountability Fundamentals, E-Learning Essentials for Online Engagement, and Online Assessment.

Professional Development Courses
Alongside the academic offerings, OUK has added 8 free professional development courses.
These courses focus on areas like mental health awareness, gender and diversity, emotional intelligence, corporate governance, business modelling for entrepreneurs, accountability fundamentals, e-learning essentials for online engagement, and online assessment.
