The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has unveiled betPawa Kenya as the official partner of the FKF Women’s Cup, marking a significant boost for women’s football in the country.
The announcement, made today, introduces the innovative Locker Room Bonus initiative, designed to financially reward players and technical staff for every matchday victory throughout the tournament.
The partnership, celebrated at a launch event, aims to empower female footballers and elevate the profile of the FKF Women’s Cup.
Under the Locker Room Bonus program, winning teams will receive KES 85,000 per preliminary match, with the amount increasing in later stages.
Each of the 23 players and three technical staff members on a winning team will share in the payout, fostering motivation and professionalism. BetPawa has committed KES 4.3 million to the initiative for the tournament’s duration, ensuring direct financial incentives for participants.
FKF President Hussein Mohammed hailed the collaboration as a milestone for Kenyan football.
“This partnership with betPawa Kenya is a game-changer for women’s football. The Locker Room Bonus will not only reward our players’ hard work but also inspire greater competitiveness,” he said.
betPawa’s Marketing Coordinator, Simon Mwangi, echoed the sentiment, stating, “We’re here to champion women’s football and empower players by rewarding their dedication directly. When women win, we all win.”
The announcement has sparked enthusiasm on social media. One user noted, “A win for FKF Women’s Cup with betPawa’s sponsorship! This is huge for our players.”
Another highlighted the immediate impact, sharing that players received bonuses post-match during a ceremonial game at the launch event.
The FKF Women’s Cup, featuring 22 teams including defending champions Ulinzi Starlets and Kenya Police Bullets, kicked off its 2024 edition in February.
The tournament showcases talent from the FKF Women’s Premier League, National Super League, Women Division One, and regional leagues. With betPawa’s backing, the competition is poised to gain greater visibility and support.
