The Majority of local tourists will not be able to attend the
December whole days in Mombasa. Most of the people have been affected by
the prolonged elections period. Prolonged Electioneering period cost
hoteliers at the Coast.
“Our businesses have gone down to an extent of
making losses. It is really pity for Kenyans to have gone down that way.
It was my first time to make huge losses in my business.” Catherine
Mutiso a business owner in Machakos said.
“We are used to going to
Mombasa during Christmas and New year but it seems that my family will
miss the luxury eve, ” she added.
Mombasa hoteliers are demanding the
government to balance and maintain transport cost for Local tourists as
it may reduce the risks of closing businesses despite being in the high
season.
