President William Ruto’s chief advisor on economic matters, economist David Ndii, creates another debate online after saying, “We will leave Kenya as corrupt as we found it.”
According to economist David Ndii, it is difficult to eradicate corruption and the culture of extravagant spending in government.
While responding to a Kenyan who had asked him to counsel the government to embrace austerity measures, in his capacity as the chair of the Presidential Council of Economic Advisers, Ndii suggested that corruption is deeply rooted and dates back to the previous administrations.
He said that President William Ruto inherited a corrupt and wasteful government, and there is a likelihood he would pass the same to his successor.
Despite the unsettling reality, the economist asserts that the government will consistently implement strategic measures to address the continuous depletion of public funds and excessive spending in various aspects.
“Go drying. This chapter was in force when you decided to elect ICC indictees. We are finishing the journey.
“Government is a necessary evil. At its core, it’s a coexistence pact that occasionally breaks down into orgies of violence. The rest is frills and fanciful romance.
“Regular reminder. Let me restate. We will leave Kenya as corrupt as we found it. On this Sunday, I suggest you contemplate your own life and leave the other sinners to contemplate theirs. Tomorrow we go back to matters, Ceaser,” the chief President Ruto’s economist said on X.
