Rigathi Gachagua impeachment motion set for October 1, MPs bribed SH5M

The impeachment motion against DP Gachagua is set to be tabled in Parliament on October 1. Rigathi Gachagua, the Deputy President, has said that his opponents are determined to remove him from office on October 1, 2024.

He has stated that members of Parliament have been promised Ksh. 5 million in exchange for their official endorsement of the resolution to impeach him.

While Gachagua was speaking to Mwea citizens in Kirinyaga County, he said that his rivals were attempting to bribe County Woman Representative Njeri Maina and Senator James Murango, but they did not accept the offer. Gachagua added that these individuals responded with disobedience.

He went on to say that he would not let such efforts stop him from fighting for the Kenyans who voted him into office after they elected him.

“They summoned Njeri and tried to instill fear in her by asking her to sign a petition for my impeachment, but she declined.”

“They suggested she accept Ksh. 5 million, but she declined.” Additionally, they presented Senator James Murango with a monetary offer, but he declined it,” he stated.

The Deputy President turned his attention to his predecessor, President William Ruto, and urged him to avoid initiating a motion to impeach him.

Gachagua and his friends have made accusations against the president, claiming that he is behind the scenes plotting his removal from office by manipulating a number of parliamentarians to push the resolution through Parliament.

“The people of Kenya chose me to serve as their president, not the president.”

“You chose Ruto as your candidate, despite the fact that I ran on the same ticket as the president. You wouldn’t have chosen him without Gachagua, “said Gachagua.

“If he is tired of receiving votes for Mount Kenya, he should share his thoughts with us. We voted for him with all of our hearts, believing him to be our own.

“He ought to stop telling the members of parliament to remove us from office,” he went on to say.

Over the last several weeks, the Democratic Party (DP) has been travelling around Nairobi and the Mt. Kenya area to mobilise his followers behind him.

Gachagua’s boss is in New York for a United Nations General Assembly event, and he and his friends have taken advantage of the occasion to expose the rot within the Kenya Kwanza government.
