Thuro, who is more often known by his nickname Wanguku, was a candidate for the governorship of Nyeri in the year 2022.
Additionally, the president has selected Dr. Nuh Nassir Abdi to serve as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre for the next three years, beginning on November 15, 2024. This appointment will take effect.
After the president cancelled the appointment of Victor Kioko Munyaka, Dr. Nuh Nassir Abdi got the job.
The President of Kenya also appointed Dr. Wenwa Akinyi Oranga to serve as the Chairperson of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute for the next three years.
Dr. Wenwa Akinyi Oranga is a sister to AUC candidate Raila Odinga.
In Kerio Valley Development Authority, the President re-appointed Mark Kosgei Chesergon to the position of head of the Board of Directors for a further three years, beginning on November 15, 2024.
In the Nairobi Rivers Commission, the President appointed Anab Mohamed Gure to a position that will last for a period of three years, beginning on November 15, 2024.
During the same round of appointments, President Ruto appointed Evans Kidero, a former governor of Nairobi, to the position of Chairperson of the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC).
