Mike Sonko doctor wants Sonko travel to South Africa for an urgent hip replacement surgery

Mike Sonko's doctor says she wants to take Sonko to South Africa for an urgent hip surgery.


Sonko has been sick for over two weeks, requires hip replacement surgery.


Dr Esther Wekesa from KNH says hip replacement surgery is required urgently because he has already formed critical arthritis.


"If left untreated, avascular necrosis can lead to critical complexities such as bone collapse or hip fracture," Wekesa says.


She additional requests that they have chosen the services of South African based surgeon Dr Robert Van Der Plank who is highly recommended in Africa.


However, Dr Plank cannot travel to Kenya at the moment and says he will examine Sonko in Johannesburg.


"I have spoken with Dr Plank on phone and email about taking up the case but he has not been to Kenya in the last 2 years and says he won't be coming anytime soon," the report reads.


The other two suspects who were arrested with Sonko in the terrorism case have been released unconditionally.
