A subset of Azimio leadership has declared Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to be their new leader, thus exacerbating the division in the community following the ODM party’s decision to collaborate with the ruling coalition in a comprehensive government of national unity.
ODM has refrained from claiming to have joined the government, but Kalonzo Musyoka, Jeremiah Kioni, and Eugene Wamalwa assert that they have freed ODM from Azimio.
On Friday, leaders of the Wiper, DAP-K, and Jubilee Parties took a tour of Othaya Nyeri County, seemingly acting as a springboard for the opposition after ODM went cold and had its top executives join President William Ruto’s cabinet.
They announced Musyoka as their new leader just one day after Martha Karua’s Narc Kenya abruptly left the Azimio alliance.
“It’s a shame that we didn’t get to see Raila as a full member of the AU when he was still Kalonzo Musyoka’s sasa,” Wamalwa added.
The Wiper leader laughed off reports that President Ruto has given him the Attorney General position, emphasizing that he is not ready to join the government.
“Hiyo ni kujishusha kiasi gani? Mimi nimekuwa vice president wa Kibaki hapa halafu mnasema nipatiwe nikuwe AG?” Kalonzo was poked.
On his side, Kitui Senator Enock Wambua said, “Kalonzo is not prepared to join your government. Scheduling the remaining meetings without including Kalonzo is simple.
The leader of the Wiper Party declared that he is prepared to assume the opposition stance and check President Ruto’s recently formed cabinet of national unity.
Kalonzo said, “Ruto kuanzia leo ajue mimi nitaanguka naye. Ikuwe wazi nitaanguka na Zakayo.”
Azimio’s ruling clique also claims that the newly selected cabinet has abandoned the demonstrators’ desires.
