Bodabodas sets Makongeni police officer’s car into flames after knocking pedestrian

An enraged mob rescued a police officer from Makongeni Police Station in Nairobi after he knocked down a pedestrian on Lusaka Road on Friday evening.

The incident occurred at 6:45 p.m. when the officer, driving an Isuzu NQR Canter, was heading towards City Stadium, according to a police report that Citizen Digital obtained.

When the officer arrived at Lusaka Road, he collided with a male pedestrian, resulting in his immediate death. Public members and rowdy boda boda riders confronted the officer, baying for his blood.

The mob stoned his vehicle and set it on fire, destroying the front cabin seat and left passenger door.

During the confrontation, a police patrol team that was in the area rushed to the scene and rescued the officer.

The officer sustained injuries to his right elbow and multiple injuries to his back. The police rushed him to Huruma Nursing Home for medical attention.

The patrol team, accompanied by traffic personnel, managed to restore calm in the area and document the scene.

The move comes after there was unrest in Eastleigh earlier today, when members of the public expressed their frustration over the actions of the Deputy OCS of Eastleigh North Police Station, Inspector Abdi Dirii.

Reports suggest that the OCS’s perceived untouchability has prevented the OCS and OCPD from challenging his alleged arrogance and arbitrary arrests of innocent residents, leading to accusations of playing tribal politics and abusing his power.
